The Heavy Duty Wagon Wheel Grate series is built from 5/8 inch thick square-bar steel for added durability. Their innovative wheel-and-spoke shape lifts firewood off the ground to improve airflow to the fire while the flared tips help contain logs safely on top of the grate.
To ensure a great fit in your fire pit, please measure the diameter of the inside of your fire pit and select a grate that is at least 1-5 inches smaller.
Please note that due to ever-increasing shipping costs, this item is now available in one-piece or two-piece versions. The two-piece version does not require any assembly beyond placing the two halves of the grate next to each other in the fire pit, and saves a significant amount in shipping costs. However, we will continue to offer the one-piece version for those who would prefer their grate to be built as one piece and are OK with the added shipping costs.

*Important Note*: We recently discontinued applying the temporary black coating to our grates and now ship them in their raw steel finish. The paint was intended to minimize rusting during warehousing and shipping of the grate. It was not intended to survive the first few fires or continue to protect the grate after installation. As this coating was applied purely for initial cosmetic appearance and is completely unnecessary for the grate to function, we have decided to remove this unnecessary step from our production process to keep costs down and reduce the environmental impact of our grates. This does mean some surface rust is to be expected when the grate arrives, but rest assured this will burn off and be replaced by soot and creosote each time you burn a fire.
